The Higher Skills in Dental Care Coordination programme develops experienced Dental Care Coordinators into patient pathway leaders — combining advanced care coordination, marketing, patient engagement, and compliance management skills. This Level 4 equivalent course offers a flexible, professionally tailored learning pathway, designed to meet the growing demand for outstanding patient experience management.

Entry Requirements

English Functional Skills at Level 1 minimum. Ability to dedicate 2–3 hours weekly for tutorials and independent study. Coursework must be submitted using Microsoft Word. Full commitment to authentic, original submissions (GDC registration warning applies).

Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a nationally recognised certificate from AIM Qualifications. Earn enhanced CPD points aligned with eCPD Outcomes A, B, and C.

Structured around four specialist units, this programme empowers coordinators with the full spectrum of patient care skills:

  • Unit 1: The Role and Skills of the Dental Care Coordinator - Understand regulatory foundations for care coordination. Develop advanced communication and information management skills. Deliver responsive, patient-centred support services.
    CPD Value: 30 hours (eCPD Group A Criteria)
  • Unit 2: Marketing and Customer Care Skills for Care Coordination - Apply ethical marketing techniques for dental services. Support patient decision-making and promote informed consent. Recognise the individual information needs of each patient.
    CPD Value: 30 hours (eCPD Group C Criteria)
  • Unit 3: Developing and Applying Care Coordination Systems - Master Information Governance, confidentiality, and safeguarding practices. Manage patient financial arrangements and treatment scheduling. Support the practice’s Mental Capacity Act compliance.
    CPD Value: 30 hours (eCPD Group B Criteria)
  • Unit 4: Ongoing Care Coordination Programme Development - Implement service audits and Significant Event Analysis. Gather and evaluate patient feedback for continuous improvement. Lead collaborative care service development within the dental team.
