Course Overview
The Higher Skills for Lead Dental Nurses programme is designed for senior dental nurses aiming to master advanced leadership, management, communication, professionalism, and clinical governance skills within dental practice settings. This Level 4 equivalent programme provides a deeper, more strategic understanding of team leadership, ethical compliance, patient care standards, and effective dental practice operations.

Entry Requirements
English Functional Skills at Level 1 minimum. 2–3 hours per week for study and tutorials. Coursework must be submitted using Microsoft Word. Commitment to submitting authentic, original work (GDC compliance warning applies).
Certification
Upon completion, learners will receive a certificate awarded by AIM Qualifications
What You'll Learn
Over nine months, learners will build higher-level skills across four structured units:
- Unit 1: Leadership and Management for Dental Nurses - Develop advanced team leadership techniques. Master work allocation, delegation, and motivation strategies. Apply creative problem-solving to team challenges.
- Unit 2: Standards of Professionalism and Ethics for Lead Dental Nurses - Understand regulations, accountability, and responsibility. Master the Quality of Care Regulations. Strengthen record-keeping standards for legal and ethical practice.
- Unit 3: Communication for Lead Dental Nurses - Create structured communication systems across the team. Overcome barriers to effective workplace communication. Deliver supportive leadership communication. Plan sustainable team communication strategies.
- Unit 4: Clinical Skills and Governance - Manage the clinical environment, equipment, and sterilisation standards. Apply evidence-based procedures for clinical excellence. Lead on clinical governance and quality assurance. Audit and enhance clinical procedures within the team.
